Because He Lives

This song makes my heart sing.  I first heard it/sang it in Spanish at the church I have been attending in Cholula, México, and it touched my heart with the mercy of God in a moment that I so needed a reminder of it.  Afterwards, I promptly looked up the English version and asked myself, “Where has this song been all my life?!?”  The chorus of the hymn floods my soul with peace while simultaneously serving as a victory cry.  Life is worth the living just because he lives!!

God sent His Son, they called him Jesus.

He came to love, heal, and forgive,

He lived and died to buy my pardon

An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

BECAUSE HE LIVES, I CAN FACE TOMORROW

BECAUSE HE LIVES, ALL FEAR IS GONE

BECAUSE I KNOW HE HOLDS THE FUTURE,

AND LIFE IS WORTH THE LIVING JUST BECAUSE HE LIVES

How sweet to hold a newborn baby

And feel the pride and joy he brings

But greater still the calm assurance

This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

And then one day, I’ll cross the river

I’ll fight life’s final war with pain.

And then as death gives way to victory,

I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.

Before the Throne of God Above

Absolutely love the music of the Gettys…this hymn is wonderful all around, but the second verse is especially meaningful for me, as I daily struggle with feelings of condemnation.  But then the third verse shows that Jesus was and is victorious! 😀

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

Fairest Lord Jesus

Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nations, O Thou of God and man the Son.  Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor, Thou my soul’s glory, joy and crown.

Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands, robed in the blooming garb of spring. Jesus is fairer; Jesus is purer, who makes the woeful heart to sing.

Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the moonlight, and all the twinkling, starry hosts. Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer, than all the angels heaven can boast.

Beautiful Savior! Lord of all the nations! Son of God and Son of man! Glory and honor, praise, adoration, now and forever more be Thine!
